Yarn, pattern and modifications
I bought this skein of Opal sock yarn in Munich. I was planning to knit the sock pattern on the back of the label (the vertical stripe one) but decided not to do it after reading some Ravelry comments about fitting issue. Time Traveller looks like a good pattern and I always want to try fleegle heel, so here I am.
I was using US 0 magic loop for the toe, then switched to 9" circular for the rest of the socks. It has been a while for me to knit with 9" so it took me some time to get used to it again. I was also knitting TAAT, but in two needles instead of the one needle method. Basically, I knit one section of the first sock, put the needle down and start the same section of the second sock, and so on. The problem is that I don’t have two pairs of 9" so I have to transfer my needles between magic loop and 9" when finishing a section, which is annoying. The Chiaogoo red shorties set is on my wishlist and I’ll definitely buy it this year!
Knit size small with US 0 without modifications, except I used Jenny’s surprisingly bind off instead of EZ’s sewn bind off. I initially used my favourite Italian bind off, but unfortunate it turned out to be not stretchy enough given the small circumference.
I paired the socks with my newly bought Mary Jane from Dr.Martens and OMG they made such a cute pair! My only issue is that the leg size is a tad small. I measured my other hand knitted socks and thought I should probably either switched to a bigger needle or added more stitches in the leg because my angle is not slim.
